Chivalry...thing of past for indian men!

Offended?! well guys you should be...chivalry does not run in Indian male blood at least not anymore i guess...Reason i make such a strong statement is that its been more that a few times i personally have faced non chivalrous half-men! You will warm the chairs when the girl next to you is standing awkwardly dodging stares and glares...When was the last time you gave a fellow lady a seat in a bus or restaurant or waited to take the elevator in the next turn?? If you havent then please i think its time to understand that when the entire world thinks that chivalry is not thing of past its something that cannot be taught and something every male should have then why Indian men are so oblivious to this concept..Its little things that you can do not just for your girlfriend or that old lady but to any girl who is standing next to you when u are merrily sitting in that chair! I have come across so many guys smart and cool or so they think who leave women and girls standing when they proudly sit and enjoy the "view"...cheap i think! a little chivalry doesn't hurt and it doesn't make you any less of a man! Men who are confident to be men have the guts to open doors and slide the chairs rest all are so insecure about their own masculinity that avoiding being chivalrous pampers their false male ego!! Get a life guys!! I don't deny that girls sometime cannot handle chivalrous men in fact most will be suspicious about the intentions but girls i think we know when a guy is getting fresh and when he is being chivalrous! In a nutshell...Guys don't just remain guys be men! After all its a man's world they say!!

    First I should ask you as to why are you traveling in a bus when your beau is warming his ass at home most time of the week!! Aaah I know what he is upto……….just see his Facebook frequency 

    Coming back to point………please chivalry is still out there. I travel to office in a government bus everyday and have many times offered my seat to a lady. Not only me but lot other people have too. But then I have my own rules too. The lady should be older than me!! Or least should appear older. Reason I came up with was due to the obnoxious stares I received when I had offered my seat to one young lady, obviously thinking I acting to be a smart ass. You pointed out right that few girls don’t have the mentality to just give a smile and accept the offering. Unfortunately the fact is, there are too many of such girls around to make men now just give up their ‘Oh so Gentleman’ behavior.

    Other thing which need to be though of is …………………………………….What happened to your right of equality?!!
    Weren’t you Homo sapiens of the other sex not fighting for equal right to everything of what men were capable to doing? If you still expect males to offer you their seat, even when the written rule (ya that’s actually a rule in the bus) is ‘first to board, first right to seat’ you actually accept yourself for being weak, dependable on others. Isn’t this asking for unfair advantage when yourself are shouting for equality?
    Give a thought girl.

    i partly agree with your view...


    although i think what ketan has written above is an extremism...i have offered a seatmany a times in locals...and only about 3 to 4 times have i been given the "ye-to-line-marne-ka-style-hain" look..although i admit, one or two of the girls WeRe good lookin...but i was chivalrous, wasnt i? ;)

    fact is, chivalry is very much alive nowadays...except for in the less educated class..that would be like expecting a construction worker to say "excuse me" when he sneezes... ;)

    n admittedly, even i am one of the critics of the feminist movement, where on the one hand equality is demanded, and reservation in admissions on the other.... but well, females being the scientifically proven weaker sex, they have a right to get that seat...

    and let's admit it...the people using public transport are of the...how should i put it...the less privileged strata of society...and it gets pretty embarrasing for a girl to stand while other guys pass cheap comments...or give really yucky looks..

    so i think, for the sake of humanity and "laaz thevayla" we must and do offer our seats to the girls... :)
